My Tuesday

OK, so here it goes:

Breakfast: instant oatmeal and organic Starbucks latte
Lunch: Tuna sub from Subway
Dinner: Three pieces of pizza
Dessert: Hot fudge sundae

Exercise: Played ping-pong with a friend for an hour and a half.

It’s not the best, but I suppose it could be worse…

OK, your turn!

New effort

I meant to post something on Friday, but my afternoon got rather busy.

I admit that when I don’t do as well with the eating and the exercise, I just don’t post. Because I don’t want to look bad. But I’m all about making another big effort at doing this.

I’ve actually lost a few pounds – I haven’t weighed myself yet, so I’m not sure how much exactly, but over the weekend I wore some pants I hadn’t been able to fit into for quite a while. That felt pretty good.

I’ve been trying to get some form of exercise every day, whether it’s walking the dog for an extra fifteen minutes or even just playing ping pong (which is a lot more physical than you might think). I’ve also been doing about twenty-five minutes on the elliptical machine a couple times a week, although I’d like to increase both the length and frequency of that as well.

So in the exercise area, I feel like I’m doing so-so. But in the eating area, not so much. I don’t snack a lot, but I do get my coffee every morning. And we do eat out a lot, which means I need to be choosing healthier things on the menu.

The reward idea is a good one – I’ll definitely chip in for your competition, Angie. And maybe the three of us can start one as well – something that wouldn’t be too costly, but would still give us some motivation. Maybe something like paying for a pedicure or a movie for whomever does the best for the week?

I’m rewarding myself with a new pair of jeans when I get down to my goal (losing two pants sizes). But that might not be for a while, so maybe we do need little perks along the way.

I wish we all lived in the same town and could just run to the gym together or get together for nonfat lattes. But since that won’t be happening any time soon, maybe we need to be calling each other more and just relying on each other whenever we feel tempted to eat something we shouldn’t. I know the time difference gets in the way a lot, and I’ll admit that I’m not the best at calling, but even just quick little two-minute, “hi, how are ya’s” would really help me a lot.

Any more ideas?

What's up?

OK, so here's the deal. This was really helping me to cut back on my eating, but if it doesn't help you guys then we need to try something else. I think I'm going to try and keep logging everyday just cause I know it helps me. But don't feel like you have to.

The other deal is this. My aunts and I are starting a little competition. I tend to do better when there's something behind it. I'm letting you know cause I want you to join in as well. Starting Monday, we are all putting $10 in a pot (or a fictitious pot, but in our minds it's there) and the first to loose 20 lbs and keep it off for 2 months gets the pot. Currently, with all involved the pot is worth $50. That's definitely enough incentive for me. If you guys join, it will be worth $70. Pretty good return for a $10 investment. Not only that, but you will have lost 20 lbs as well.

Anyway... no pressure. Let me know if you want in.

Also, any ideas for the first deal? What can I do to help you guys? I know its hard when we are all so far away, but I really think we can do this. Should we be more strict on ourselves? Do we need to find a book and follow a plan? I need help!

A Weekend to Celebrate!

So I don't think I did too bad this weekend. Don't get me wrong there are definitely things to improve.

Friday Night, 2/9:
We went out to eat and I had a grilled cheese (big surprise), french onion soup and french fries.

Saturday, 2/10:
Breakfast: a bowl of frosted cheerios
Lunch: veggies with dip
Dinner: Beef roast with potatoes, carrots and onions, and noodles

Sunday, 2/11:
Breakfast: Everything bagel with cream cheese and Iced caramel latte
Lunch: popcorn & soda at the movies
Dinner: Caramel apple pie and coffee

Hmmm... not exactly eating healthy, but not eating as much is good.

Thursday, 2/8

So yesterday. I really didn't eat that much, but none of it was good.
Breakfast: strawberry yogurt and granola (not bad)
Lunch: Auntie Anne's pretzel with cheese dip
Snack: 1/2 bag of chips
Dinner: 6 chicken and veggie pot stickers
Party snack: strawberry and angle food desert & ranch seasoned pretzels
I also did not work out at all yesterday. I got lazy because of the leg episode the night before.

Today, Friday, 2/9:
Breakfast: strawberry yogurt and granola, Med Iced caramel latte, approx 5 donut holes from Duncan Donuts.
Lunch: Turkey sub from subway and bag of chips.
Not sure what we are doing for dinner, but there isn't much at home. Probably pasta and veggies or something of that sort.
I did make it to the gym this morning and did elliptical for 30 minutes. YAY!

Grilled Cheese

I feel like I've taken giant leaps in progress the past 2 days. Out of nowhere I've found this self-control and discipline that is beyond me. Hopefully it will continue into the weekend. That's always the hard part. I've also been really into grilled cheese & tomato soup. It's such a comfort food when it's like 5 degrees outside.

Tuesday, 1/6:
Worked out in the morning - 30min elliptical and stretching/weights
Breakfast: an apple
Lunch: salad with one piece of KFC chicken on it.
Dinner: grilled cheese & tomato soup
Snack: popcorn (my only downfall of the day, YAY!)

Wednesday, 1/7:
Breakfast: an apple
Lunch: grilled cheese, a cup of chili & a piece of red velvet cake (not so great, but it tasted good)
Dinner: grilled cheese and tomato soup
After work I did walk away the pounds 3 mile with my mom - it's about 45min long.

Not bad, not bad. Still have a bit to work on, but at least I'm not snacking. I guess grilled cheese isn't exactly the most healthy thing to eat, but its so comforting.

So yea... how are you guys doing? I haven't weighed myself cause I'm afraid to. The first couple weeks are so hard cause you don't see the progress right away. BUT, my vote is we don't give up. We CAN do this. Just think how empowered we will be when we find ourselves in a place of health and discipline. It will be great! Let's not be in-the-moment compulsive eaters. Let's not give in to self. Let's build ourselves up with discipline and keep our vision clear and our minds set on the objectives to reach our goal.

OK, I've said my piece.

Monday, Monday

Monday, 2/5:
Breakfast: An apple
Lunch: salad and 4 pizza hut bread sticks with sauce
Dinner: 1/2 pack of Ramon and 6 chicken & veggie pot stickers.
I managed to not snack at all yesterday, which is a huge accomplishment. I wanted to have a bowl of ice cream so bad last night, but somehow suppressed the urge. I also made it to the gym last night and did 30 minutes on the elliptical and some weights.
Overall, it was a good day. Definitely strides in the right direction.
I CAN DO THIS!

Do weekends have to count?

Apart from walking the dog around the neighborhood, I didn't really get much exercise over the weekend.

But I did keep my eating under control somewhat. I didn't eat wonderfully healthy things, but I only ate small portions, so I consider that a step in the right direction.

Yesterday, I managed to make it through our Superbowl party with just veggies and a small amount of chips and dip. That is, until I pulled out the desserts and succumbed to their sugary ways.

Today I've only had a banana and a low-fat sub from Subway. Not sure what our plan is for dinner, but I will be working out later tonight.

I tried on my swimsuit the other day. Eek. That's a motivator if I ever saw one.

Anyone have any more ideas for more things to put on the blog? Other ways to motivate ourselves? Anyone? Anyone?

Weekends are killer!

OK - First let me just say that Friday did not go as planned. I splurged on fries and a milkshake on my way out to Harrisburg and on top of that I didn't have time to work out. I did end up having the rest of my sub with dinner, but also had some cookie dough and when Joe and Joanna got in I had some blt fries when we went out. AHHH!
Saturday was a bit better. I did get a good 1.5 hour workout in including 45min on the elliptical. However, we went out to eat twice. Lunch I had french onion soup, cesar salad, french fries and onion loaf at Damon's. Dinner we went to El Rodeo which always includes way too many chips with salsa and guacamole, cheese enchiladas, and a soft beef taco.
Sunday was terrible. Lunch - KFC chicken, pasta salad and cheese bites and a few carrots. Dinner was two slices of pepperoni, pb MnMs, some carrots and celery with dip. In addition there were plenty of other snacks along the way. Not a good day.
OK, seriously, I'm tired of this lack of self-control in my life. I CAN do this. I CAN eat healthy and enjoy it at the same time. I CAN get to my goal weight. I CAN!

Friday, February 2, 2007

Thursday, 2/1:

Breakfast: sausage and cheese sandwich on an english muffin and a white chocolate latte
Lunch: 10" Turkey sub with all the trimmings - it was so yummy! and some chips.
Snack: 2 fun-size packs of MnMs.
Dinner: Left over pasta from the other night and cookie dough.
Not a great day, but I have a positive outlook for the future. It will get better.

Today, Friday, so far:
Nothing for breakfast - got busy.
Lunch: 5" Turkey sub with all the trimmings.
I plan to eat the rest of the Turkey sub (5") for dinner. Hopefully that will be it. I know I've had quite a few turkey subs lately, but they are just so good. I can't get enough of it.

I've continued my exercise this week, I've gone everyday and I'm planning to go after work today. I'm definitely making good progress in that area.

You're not alone!

I've just been a little lazy with the food diary thing.

Yesterday I had half a Starbucks, a cup of tomato soup for lunch, and macaroni and cheese for dinner, along with a little bit of pork chops and corn.

I have been eating a lot of popsicles but I think that's okay because they help my throat not be on fire.

My goal is to start working out again this weekend, and to hopefully get back up to thirty-five minutes on the elliptical.

TTFN

No, No I'm here

I honestly just don't want to post because I've been horrible. AND because I haven't had the time at work to do it. :-)
What's funny is, Ang, that you and I had EXACTLY the same thing for dinner last night. We should have eaten together.
I am planning on starting over maybe tomorrow or Monday. We are going grocery shopping tonight, so i will be able to get more healthy stuff then. Exercising for me has consisted of constantly moving boxes and furniture for the last few days, in addition to hauling laundry to and from the laundry room and up the stairs to our apartment. BUT when the weather is better (not freezing cold and snowing) I plan to make use of having the path down riverside right accross the street. AND we'll be getting our rugs from Home Depot this weekend so I will be able to do pilates.
Anyway, I miss you both and I hope to talk to you soon. Love you!

Am I the only one in this?

Wednesday, 1/31:
Breakfast: 2 bowls of frosted cheerios
Lunch: salad and a auntie Anne's pretzel with cheese
Dinner: Arby's beef 'n cheddar and curly fries
Snack: a couple bites of chocolate chip cookie dough.
OK, so I'm trying with the eating thing, but the temptations seem to get the best of me. At least I've been to the gym and worked out everyday this week.
Is anyone else out there?
